My name is Lorraine Williamson and I have had the privilege of teaching at, and leading Opunake Primary for over 21 years. The school is at the leading edge of the most current pedagogical practices. I lead a progressive team of teachers.
Our Strengths
Teachers at our school believe all students can learn. If your child is in our school, they will be taught by experienced, empathetic teachers, who value learning.
We celebrate diversity. Students and teachers from all backgrounds and ethnicities attend our school. Our teaching staff come from all corners of the world. This adds a rich patina to our school.
Teachers “know their stuff” at Opunake Primary we have a multi talented group of teachers with high levels of expertise across the curriculum.
Our teachers communicate well with each other, whanau and with our students. They are receptive to feedback and I am continually impressed with their self reflection and growth.
We are an extremely well resourced school. Our students have access to “cutting edge” technologies, the latest maths equipment and resources, great science equipment, and the latest texts for reading. We provide teachers with a good consumables budget so our students have good art supplies, and STEAM resources.
Our teachers have regular professional development in literacy and numeracy, led by a very experienced senior team of teachers in our school. All teachers are “Apple Teachers” and the school is currently preparing to become an Apple Distinguished School.
We are very supported by a strong Board of Trustee and a hard working Home and School.
We are proud of our school, and we welcome school visits. If you want to be part of our great school, contact (06)7618367, and make an appointment to meet with Lorraine.
